Mailforge

The email client I've always wanted and could never find — so I'm building it. Wickedly fast, runs locally, and does far more than anything else out there.

mailforge — inbox
A 30-second tour of the real thing — no audio, captions on screen.

Wicked fast

Everything is instant — search, threading, switching accounts. No spinners, no 'loading your mailbox,' no waiting on a webview. It feels like a native app because it acts like one.

Runs locally

Your mail lives on your machine, not on someone else's server being mined for signal. Local-first means it's private, it works offline, and it's yours.

Does so much more

Every client I tried made me give something up. Mailforge is the one that doesn't — the power features I kept wishing existed, finally in one place.

What makes it different

Built for people who live in their inbox

  • Instant, local full-text search across every account
  • Keyboard-driven — your hands never leave home row
  • Multiple accounts, one unified, fast inbox
  • Works fully offline; syncs when you're back

Why I'm building it

I've tried every email client I could get my hands on. Each one made me trade something away — speed for features, features for privacy, or all three for a bloated web wrapper pretending to be an app.

So I started building the one I actually wanted: local-first, absurdly fast, and genuinely more capable than what's out there. Mailforge is that client, and it's getting closer every week.

Want in early?

I'm sharing early builds with a small group. Tell me what you hate about your current email client and I'll add you to the list.
